Located on the corner of Fontaine and Nickajack roads, Heritage Park is a 105-acre historical nature preserve. The park is located in Mableton, Georgia in Cobb County.
Heritage Park's 1.7-mile walking trail has an elevated boardwalk over wetlands, travels through forests along Nickajack Creek, passes the ruins of Concord Woolen Mills, and is near the historic Concord Covered Bridge. Heritage Park is a soft-surface walking trail, and bicycles are not allowed. The path is gravel and dirt, and because it is a beautifully wooded trail, sometimes there are large roots that may be a trip hazard. Heritage Park includes views of Nickajack Creek and the Concord Woolen Mill ruins. In the distance there is a peak of Ruff's Grist Mill on a hill, but it is on private property. It's a scenic trail but isolated, so please use proper safety precautions.

Silver Comet Trail Access
Wheelchair Accessibility = not good because there's a big hill at the Concord Trailhead that leads down to the Silver Comet.
To access Heritage Park from the Silver Comet, park at the Concord Road Trailhead and walk east about 0.2 miles. The entrance is on the east lane of the Silver Comet, just past the wooden Concord Road bridge and before the metal East-West Connector bridge.

Wheelchair Accessibility is just OK because there is a wide curved trail leading down a hill to the trail and a planked boardwalk.
The main Heritage Park entrance is located at the corner of Fontaine Road and Nickajack Road and has good parking as well as nice restrooms. Some of the picnic areas are covered while others are part of a wooded elevated overlook. |
